So THE LEGO MOVIE hit $30.8M last Saturday, which was kinda a big deal for a February release.
Is it the kind of movie that goes pop then pffft? No way! -- think of the children! I'm going to say it does better than $25M this weekend.
And my babydahlin' for the weekend, WINTER'S TALE, how does she fare? Is there enough money to go around? Let's be forward and say she steals $10M this Sunday.

Valen Times Three
For the romantically inclined this weekend features three new wide release kissy-kissy movies -- ABOUT LAST NIGHT (Sony), ENDLESS LOVE (Universal), and WINTER'S TALE (Warner Bros.).
Which one will gross the highest? I'm going to throw out ENDLESS LOVE right off the top, its a remake of an 80's nostalgia piece and it doesn't have Brooke Shields or Tom Cruise or Matt Lauer. Boring.
WINTER'S TALE looks, um, ambitious, with big billious names and a RottenTomatoes rating of 5%. Hmmm..
And then there's ABOUT LAST NIGHT, with the lead Kevin Hart coming off a very hot month in the action movie RIDE ALONG. How could ABOUT LAST NIGHT lose?
Because the preview for WINTER'S TALE made me cry, that's why! Complete schlocky deliciousness! It's insane and huge and that's why I pick WINTER'S TALE to win the 3-way race this weekend.
And what's out there for people who aren't embracing liplocks and SweeTarts? THE LEGO MOVIE will crush for sure, but by how much? I think newcomer remake ROBOCOP won't even get half of THE LEGO MOVIE take this weekend. Mwah mwah!!!

Shia LaBeouf Is Magical
Noted bag-head M. LaBeouf must be taking direction in koo-koo-biscuits from his NYMPHOMANIAC director Uncle Lars in the run up to the US March release of the movie -- both volumes! -- and the longer road to Cannes. If we're lucky the whole cast will get thrown out this year.
In the short term, back stateside from the Euro opening for the movie, I bet Shi-Shi can move his visibility and his HSX stock up this week, even though his antics in Denmark will be hard to improve upon -- but I have faith, and I bought SLABE today at $66 and expect to sell north of $68 by Friday morning (2/14 6a PST).

Scarlett Johanson In Bible Prophecy
Apparently ScarJo's recent Oxfam kerfuffle is one strand of the middle east hairball -- who knew? Her recent stock minibump that flirted with 80 probably had more to do with HER.
Tuesday night she does a lap on Letterman -- is that enough to push SJOHA over 79? The woman is on a beast, Rev 17!

KHART Froo Da Roof
Kevin Hart got some major visibility out of RIDE ALONG, the movie that pretty much owned January. Even though THE LEGO MOVIE has muscled into top spot I think Kevin still has room to go -- he leads in ABOUT LAST NIGHT which gets a Valentine's Day release.
I think its only up for KHART -- I bought today at H$53.46 and I think I can sell on Friday morning (Feb 14, 2014 at 0600 PST) for H$75 or more.

Mr. Smith Gets A Little
I can't believe that after this weekend Will Smith's Hollywood Stock would actually go down. Really?
WSMIT is currently hovering under $179.50 -- I say it's gotta go up even just a teensy bit, to H$ 180 by the middle of the week, no? Buy people, buy!!

Money In Black
MIB and MIB 2 both did about 50M for their opening weekends, so you'd think the 100M prediction InTrade is throwing around is wildly optimistic, no?
I'm saying more 120M.
Here's Big D's logic on why MIB 3 will produce *MORE THAN DOUBLE* the numbers of MIB 2:
1) The Avengers -- think 200M opening weekend a few weeks ago -- has just warmed up the audience
2) 4000 theatres -- the previous two MIBs were around 3000 theatre releases
3) Moving to the more lucrative 4-day Memorial Day weekend slot from July 4 weekend
4) Um, MIB 2 was ten years ago and the appetite for fantasy nonsense has more than doubled..
But heck, where does that time go? Has it really be ten years? Someone musta snapflashed me with one of those memory erasing pen thingies.
